Want to submit your book—but it hasn't published yet?

You're on the right page!

Please review the contract below (it is the same as the standard Consignment Contract), then fill out the form so we can mark our calendars and help pre-sell/pre-launch your new debut:

📚 Submission Requirements 📚

Our efforts to support independent authors and the incredible stories you publish go beyond simply stocking on shelves—we share, we brag, and we ensure that every customer who comes into the tea house/bookstore space has an opportunity to discover you! But in order for this to work, we do need to abide by a few non-negotiable requirements to ensure a quality reading experience for all:
  • Professional*, cleanly-designed book cover WITHOUT erotic images or overtly horrific images (i.e. if it works for Literotica or CreepyPasta, we won't be able to feature it on our shelves. Please also keep in mind that this is a tourist location catering to families, so children of all ages will be seeing these covers!)
  • Professionally edited** with minimal-to-no typographical errors
  • Available on the Ingram*** database

*As long as the cover looks as curated as one you would find coming from a traditional publishing house, it doesn't matter if you designed it yourself or hired a pro. It just needs to look high-quality.

**NEVER, EVER rely on self-editing! Out of the dozens (now nearing hundreds) of books we've received, read, and even worked with prior to the bookstore's formation, only 1-2 actually held up to high-quality standards from a self-editing author. Please do not gamble with your valuable stories. Any books we receive which were marked as Professionally Edited but clearly are not will be returned at Author's expense.

***IngramSpark and KDP are printers—Ingram is the database to which they both distribute via Expanded Distribution. While BumbleBooks is operating on consignment and gradually introducing Direct Orders, we DO read and review titles on the bookstore blog that link to Bookshop.org which plugs into Ingram. If your book is NOT on Ingram's database, we may be able to sell it, but we will not be able to feature, review, or recommend it to other booksellers.

🐝 Please read through this contract agreement before completing the form below 🐝

Fae•ble agrees to display for sale a minimum of 4 and maximum of 10 copies each of the titles designated by Author for a maximum term of 12 months from the date of signature. The Author will provide all copies of the listed titles free of charge and agrees that Fae•ble owes no compensation to the Seller for any unsold titles. For all copies sold, Fae•ble will pay to the Seller 50 percent (50%) of the sale price of each book sold and retain the remaining 50 percent (50%).

Fae•ble will collect and pay Iowa Sales Tax for all titles sold. Any other taxes are the sole responsibility of the Author.

Payments for books sold will be made on a weekly basis as books are sold, totaling up sales made between Monday and Sunday. Author agrees to provide a simplified payment link via Square, Zelle, PayPal, or Stripe.

{PLEASE NOTE: If no payment is made, it is because the books have not yet sold. While The Amana Colonies is a world-renowned and popular tourist site (and part of the National Parks System!), foot traffic tends to occur in bursts and centralize around holidays and festivals. It has happened where a book doesn't sell a single copy for several months, then sells out completely within one weekend!}

Fae•ble makes no guarantee as to placement, promotion, marketing or sales of the titles listed for consignment, but will endeavor to display and sell them in a manner it deems best for the books’ content and audience.

Author may provide promotional materials (bookmarks, business cards, posters, stickers, etc.) at their own expense.

Author verifies that the books provided fulfill the requirements listed in Section 1.

If all copies of the Author’s titles sell before the end of the 12 month term, Fae•ble may, at its own discretion, ask the Author for more copies to put on sale OR decide to terminate the consignment agreement in favor of directly ordering through Author. Fae•ble may also, at its own discretion, elect to renew the consignment agreement with the Author at the end of the 12 month term if the Author agrees.

Whenever the consignment agreement terminates, the Author will be asked to retrieve all unsold copies from the store. (Unless the termination is due to shifting to Direct Sales). Fae•ble will ship consignment books back to the Author as long as Author agrees to pay for shipping costs. Fae•ble will not be responsible for any books the Author leaves at the store and/or declines to ship. Unclaimed consignment copies will be kept for 1 month. After that, they may be kept or utilized at Fae•ble's sole discretion.

Fae•ble reserves the right to terminate this agreement at any time for any reason. Feedback and/or explanation will be provided via email to Author. If Fae•ble terminates the agreement, it will notify the Author by email or phone and ask the Author to retrieve any unsold copies.

By completing this form, Author is entering a legally-binding agreement with Fae•ble to abide by the aforementioned terms and requirements.

By typing the legal and pen name in the form below, Author is agreeing to utilize this as the digital signature.

Fae•ble's provision of this Agreement is a mutual act of digital signature.
